In 2018, then-CFMA Chairman Joe McLaughlin wanted to recognize members who do exceptional work for CFMA, but whose efforts might not be acknowledged at the Executive level. He was reminded of the military tradition of the challenge coin – a small medallion or token that signifies a person is a member of an elite group. Since then, CFMA Executive Committee members have followed the tradition of giving out a limited number of CFMA Chair's Challenge Coins to CFMA members who exhibit service and excellence to CFMA.

Brad has been a tireless advocate for mental health and suicide prevention for over 30 years. Recently, he and a team of advocates created the Constructing Minds Alliance, a collaborative effort within the Dallas/Ft. Worth construction industry aimed at addressing suicide, mental health challenges, homelessness, and the labor shortage. Brad also volunteers at the Dallas 24-Hour Club, where he mentors homeless men, helping them create a pathway toward sobriety, wellness, and self-sufficiency. He was a founding committee member for the Stuart Bright Life Skills Training Program, which provides essential life skills training to the men and women of The 24.
Brad proudly represents CFMA’s Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter, serving on its board and currently acting as the Mental Wellness Suicide Prevention Chair. He serves CFMA nationally by participating in the Specialty Trade Committee and the Associate Member Value Task Force. Additionally, Brad is on the Planning Committee for the 2025 Constructing Minds Summit, the premier annual event of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention. Recently, TEXO asked Brad to complete Vital Cog: Suicide Prevention in the Workplace, a “train-the-trainer” curriculum designed to help employers identify early warning signs of mental health issues and how to address them. In his spare time, he regularly visits the Austin Chapter as a supporting member.

Jennifer stepped in as the chapter president as we were slowly emerging from COVID-19. The chapter was in need of engagement, excitement, and programming; Jennifer provided all of that. She brought in some new board members, and our chapter membership started growing and the number of CCIFPs in the chapter jumped. More engagement resulted from this as more members participated in meetings and events and the board is now extremely engaged in how the chapter is doing and providing value to members. It has been a pleasure to see Jennifer's leadership grow over the past couple of years with so much impact to the Greater Wichita Chapter.

He engaged with our Leadership Development Committee’s Database Subcommittee in preparing the specs for a full and responsive database to support our members and volunteer leadership. Chris prepared comprehensive flow charts for the Subcommittee, asked terrific questions, and provided guidance on the options for developing a database that is as full and flexible as possible. Chris’ ability to communicate the IT perspective and technology issues that are involved in a conversion to a new systemas well as any IT professional I have worked with. I felt that Chris really went above and beyond to help support the Subcommittee’s work. His dedication to the project and humility in how he interacts with us has impressed me greatly and deserves to be recognized.

She said no but I saw some hesitation, so I pushed a little. She said she had launched new websites before and knew the project management time it took to do it right. She was concerned that she wouldn’t have the bandwidth to do it right without more help. We added a temporary employee to the budget after that discussion. Then COVID hit and the budget was revised without the added help. And yet, she’s given it her all, and from what I can tell, she has done it right. In addition she took on the Staff Co-Chair role for the Diversity and Inclusion Task force, 40 under 40, not to mention all of the new content channels – play lists, chat with the chairman, pod casts and more. I know she is exhausted and really could have used the help. Samantha is the ‘unsung hero’ this coin is 2021-22 in my opinion.”

Tammy has done everything imaginable at the chapter level over the years and remains deeply committed and involved today always serving in one way or another. She was instrumental in the Suicide Prevention event the chapter was involved in. She served as the chapter's president and then stepped up to get involved with CFMA at an organizational level. When asked why Dave chose Christine he said, “Christine is a long time member of CFMA Valley of the Sun chapter. She was a member in the 1990’s, then left for a short period of time due to change in jobs. She came back to CFMA and has been a loyal member since 2000. Christine has been a dedicated member of VOS and is always quick to volunteer her services. She has been involved with the VOS community outreach committee.
Recently, she completed a VOS community outreach program for a charity called UMOM. UMOM provides shelter and programs for homeless mothers and their children. VOS had decided to build a mini library (book depository) and stock the little library with children’s books for the kids at the shelter. Christine coordinated the building of the little library. Unfortunately, the VOS chapter did not support the effort very well with volunteer time. Christine recruited members of her company to help make sure the little library got built. Christine and Diana Bujnovsky were the only VOS members that worked on the project, no officers or other board members helped them out, but they overcame their labor shortage and got the project built. I am attaching some pictures of the cute little library. In picture 2 is Diana on the left in the blue shirt and Christine on the right in the gray shirt. I called and spoke with Christine and told her 2021-22 the challenge coin and that I was going to be giving it to her next time I see her and that I wanted her to receive recognition for her hard work and giving her time in the spirit of community outreach. When asked why Mike chose Joanne he said, “Joanne has been an active CFMA member and board member of the Greater Washington D.C. Chapter for at least 10 years. She served as Treasurer for many, many years, a role that others would pass on due to the amount of work that was involved in a larger chapter. As Treasurer she maintained all of our compliance and reporting while chasing people down for unpaid fees for chapter events. Prior to finally taking Stuart's advice and hiring a chapter administrator, Joanne took on many of the chapter's administrative tasks. She would work the registration table at events sacrificing her time to network and socialize with other members. She was active in developing educational programs that saw high attendance. She preferred to stay in the background in a humble and dignified manner. She would have made a great chapter president, and attended Spring Creek, but declined the chapter presidency when others expressed interest in filling that role. She has always been an ambassador for CFMA. Joanne is a great example of a member who volunteers for CFMA and makes so many contributions to our chapter as well as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. Her contributions go unnoticed by many, but the success of our chapter events would not be possible without her efforts. She is a true friend and works very hard to promote CFMA at the National and Chapter levels. 350 words aren’t enough to describe Janice's character.”
